Finally, it is not a mentorship in strategy.
The dictatorship of strategy, of the logics of fear & survival, has gone on long enough.
The more I have allowed myself to create, the more I have come to understand creation as an act of leadership.
Leadership is one of the most terrifying things a person can do these days.
(Maybe that’s why most of our leaders seem to be monsters or automatons, or at the very least grave disappointments.)
What I have deeply learned is that the capacity for art, leadership, business, etc. is a function of the quality of our internal relations.
Which means, it is a function of our capacity to believe.
For 5 years I have been cultivating this capacity in me.
It’s not that I believe more now than I used to.
I always believed.
But like so many of us, I lived in fear & denial of my own capacity for it. I believed that believing would only get me into trouble.
The moment I decided to integrate the rest of my self around this inherent & precious capacity IN ME, my life began to change.
This is what I am here to support YOU to do, as well.

Only sometimes it gets swallowed by the parts of you dealing with “reality” as it is: the parts riven by doubt, shame, despair, anxiety.
The parts that want to protect you from being disappointed in other people, or in yourself.
It’s not that this path requires your self-trust to be un-interrupted by these feelings.
Self-trust is only built by moving through what interrupts it.
Let me tell you how much doubt I experienced in the process of leaving a profession I’d been training in for the better part of two decades.

Instead, I kept waiting, listening, feeling, reflecting.

Held steady by desire, along with my body’s sheer refusal to move unless it was in the direction I actually wanted to go.

FAQ’s
IS THIS BUSINESS COACHING?
I hesitate to call this “business coaching” because I do not believe in the separation of art, business, money, leadership, etc. (I think many of our culture’s problems derive from this seeming separation).
Also because many of us have lifetimes of experience telling us that the way to succeed in business is to override our softer slower parts. I stand for a different way.
However, it’s also extremely important to me that we artists make MONEY. The vehicle I prefer for this is online business, because, for now at least, it allows for the greatest freedom of expression.
Therefore, yes, creative leadership does include business.
WHAT DO WE DO INSIDE THIS MENTORSHIP?
In the foreword to Motley Stones (1852), Austrian writer Adalbert Stifter tells his readers that the weird little short stories in his book are intended not so much to “preach virtue and morals” as to “work solely by what they are”:
“If there is anything noble and good in me,” he continues, “it will exist in my writings on its own; but if it is not in my nature, I will strive in vain to depict the sublime and beautiful, for baseness and ignobility will always show through.”
I have tried to become a certified practitioner of a variety of coaching techniques, & though I bring that knowledge with me, I have come to the conclusion that the best that I can offer is my self, as natural as possible. Which, as we all know, is a condition it takes an enormous amount of work to re-instate in our world.
